BALA LAND

LA is renowned for a host of iconic images: the Hollywood sign, palm trees, Rodeo Drive, freeways, the Oscars. Our city has become justly famous as the capitol of creativity, innovation and diversity, and for one of the best folk orchestras in the world. We propose to add to our city iconography the triangular balalaika, modest and unassuming, but when gathered together into our 40 piece ensemble, a force to be reckoned with.

Give yourself a holiday gift-tickets to our March 3rd concert. See a new three-cornered silhouette added to our cultural skyline.

TWO JACKS

Russian balalaika orchestra

One of the days of autumn 2010 we received a call inviting us to participate in the production of Bernard Rose's new film, "Two Jacks". Since the film was to be based on Leo Tolstoy's short story "Two Hussars", Bernard had a notion to include in it, some Russian music. Vernon made arrangements for us to meet Bernard and Julia, to introduce ourselves and our music to them. We met at the beautiful and cozy house on Kings Rd. and played a few arrangements from our repertoire.
